Friday Favorites~April 16, 2021

(via pinterest)

Happy Friday, friends! Thanks for spending a few minutes of yours joining me in my happy place on the internet.

Today I am linking up with Andrea and Erika to share my Friday Favorites~Beauty Edition!

I have loved makeup since I was a little girl. I have vivid memories of sneaking my mom's Oil of Olay cream and digging through my older sister's makeup drawer when I knew she wouldn't catch me. I have tried countless beauty brands over the years and definitely like to mix high and low end products. My number one concern is if the products work and last throughout the day. I am not one to reapply makeup other than lipstick or gloss.

I am not a morning face washer. I always wash my face at night and apply my nighttime skin products. In the morning, I mist my face with Mario Badescu facial spray (it is truly the best!) and then apply good old Olay as a moisturizer/sunscreen. I've been sneaking it since I was three, so why not get my own? My mom looks pretty fantastic so she definitely influenced me.

After my moisturizer is absorbed, I put on a full face of makeup. This would be my typical going to work look. It looks like a lot of products, but it seriously takes me ten minutes from start to finish.

This one is my splurge but it lasts forever and adds an spf 50 layer! I never use foundation. My other favorite cc cream at a little better price point is here. I toggle between the two.

I started using this about a year ago and I will never stop.

This acts like a powder and evens everything out for the perfect base layer. I have literally been using this for a decade or more.

Pure magic. That is all.

The link is for the palette that is a bit cheaper and includes my favorite colors.

My go to for under my cheekbones and on the top of my forehead for a bit of glow.

This is a cult favorite and for good reason. It is the only color I ever use.

Seriously the best. Yes, it's Wet 'n Wild. Yes it's cheap. Trust me.

I love a good liquid black eyeliner that doesn't move or flake during the day. This one is a winner!

Another money saver that works like a charm. Seriously my favorite brow pencil ever.

Keeps those brows in place all day!

I use this on my water line to brighten my eyes. I love the look it gives!

I didn't think I needed a lash primer until I started using one. I never deal with smudges or mascara that flakes.

Do not buy high end mascara...I already tried them all for you. This drugstore brand is my very favorite!

I love the look and feel of this gloss. If I can ever go without a mask, maybe you can see it in person too!

Isn't makeup fun?! I hope this post helps you find a new product or two to add to your makeup routine. Do you have a favorite product that I need to buy? I'd love to hear your recommendations!

Also, If you don't already follow me on the liketoknow.it app, would you consider doing so? I have set some goals for myself over there and new followers help me reach them! Simply download the app from the app store, set up an account with your email, search for Deanna Zehr and give me a follow! Easy, fast and free. :)

Have a beautiful weekend!

Spring Style Refresh

Happy first day of Spring!!

The best part of Winter
is the first day of Spring.

#truth

Although I don't enjoy the back and forth weather that Spring brings to Illinois, there are a few things I heart about Spring:

Spring Cleaning
Sunshine
Planting the Garden
New Clothes
New Shoes
New Makeup

While decluttering our house during Lent this year, I have been making lists of things that need replaced or replenished.  Spring is a great time to refresh our closets and bathroom cabinets.

There are so many great styles and sales going on for Spring.  Here are some of my favorites:

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

This is the perfect eye shadow palette.  Although Urban Decay is rocking it with all of their Naked Palette offerings, I think this one is the best of the basics.

NARS Blush and Bronzer Duo

I love this combo from NARS.  You have your blush and bronzer in one package.  I always run out of bronzer before blush during the winter. #palegirlproblems

Converse Shoreline Sneaker

These are the perfect Spring sneaker!  I got mine last year for baseball season and I love them.  Quick tip: spray them with Scotch Guard to keep them pretty and white.

Swimsuit

There are few things worst that trying on swimsuits after the long winter.  I tend to buy mine online and try them on at home instead of subjecting myself to that torture!  I like to wear a one piece or a tankini; hides imperfections and stays in place when I'm at the beach or pool trying to keep up with Mason.

I love classic suits like this one.  They tend to flatter just about anyone.  I love shopping online at Nordstrom for many reasons, but their frees shipping and free returns makes it worry free.  The description of this suit says it makes you look 10 pounds lighter in 10 seconds.  Sign me up!

Loft
Loft is one of my favorite places to shop, especially for Spring.  Last year I bought my Easter dress there, and given their new arrivals, that will be happening again this year! I'm also loving their selection of Spring tops.

LOFT

This scratches the surface of my Spring favorites.  Clean out a closet or two and make note of what you need to refresh.  Happy Spring and happy shopping!

Friday Favorites~Valentine's Day Edition

It's the Friday before the Friday before Valentine's Day and I'm linking up again with fellow bloggers ErikaNarci and Andrea to share my Friday Favorites~Valentine's Day Edition!

Dan and I usually do not go all out for gifts for Valentine's Day, but we do a date night.  It's the perfect excuse for buying new things to wear on the date!  I love buying or receiving perfume or makeup for Valentine's Day.  I'm currently loving...

Kate Spade Perfume

Nars Blush

Dry Bar Hairspray

Another great Valentine's buy is pajamas.  Since I stay in mine longer than is socially acceptable in the winter, I like them to be cute!

DKNY

My sister gave me this necklace last year for my birthday and I wear it all.the.time!

Of course my favorites list wouldn't be complete without mentioning my favorite Gibson sweater and the new one that I hope is on its way to my closet.

Gibson Sweater

I am off to the Big Apple with my two oldest this weekend and we are so excited!  If you see me on Monday, hand me some caffeine! ;)

Coffee with Kenobi Guest Post

My handsome husband, Dan Z. hosts a very popular Star Wars podcast with my nephew, Cory Clubb.  The two of them have taken a hobby of theirs and turned it into a very successful podcast and website.  Although I don't share the Star Wars fascination, I do think it's awesome that their interest gave me the opportunity to receive and review makeup from Cover Girl!  If you or someone you love likes Star Wars, check them out at www.coffeewithkenobi.com or download their podcast, "Coffee with Kenobi", on iTunes.  If, like me, you like makeup, keep reading :)

Hi guys!  My name is Deanna and I am Dan Z's wife.  He has graciously offered to let me do a guest post to tell you about a collaboration between Star Wars and Cover Girl.  And let's be honest, I'm earning major brownie points from Dan for getting excited about something Star Wars!

Cover Girl has teamed up with Star Wars to offer something everyone can get excited about; Star Wars collectible makeup.  Given that my husband is an avid fan and I am more of a novice when it comes to Star Wars culture, I love that Cover Girl has offered me a way to incorporate his love of Star Wars into something I enjoy as well.

I have to say that I am picky when it comes to makeup and I was not expecting much from the product other than it being a fun way to trick my husband into thinking I was jumping on the Star Wars bandwagon :)  However, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality.  The nail color I tried was called "Revenge Red" and it is the perfect color for this time of year.  It also stayed on extremely well and what girl doesn't love a polish that doesn't chip easily?  As for lipsticks, I tried colors 20 (lavender), 30 (red), and 40 (gold).  The red (30) was by far my favorite.  I have a very hard time finding a red that works on me and this one fit the bill perfectly.  I have found that it is my go to with my fall outfits.  The other two lip colors were not my favorite, but I could see where they would definitely be great for someone wanting to dress the part when attending the movie.  My favorite items were the mascara.  Not only are the containers super sleek and fun, the product is amazing.  I loved the unique brush and the way it lengthened my lashes.  There are ten different mascaras and I tested numbers 4 and 8.

Whether you are buying the makeup to support your significant other like me, collecting it, or wearing it to the movie premier, you will not be disappointed.  There are many items other than those listed in this post and they can be found at any major retailer.  Tweet pics of you wearing the makeup to the movie with the hashtag #CWKandCoverGirl.  I can't wait to see your creative creations with these fun products!

May the force be with you! (more brownie points)
